COLLECTION OF STUDENT BACKGROUND CHARACTERISTICS

Schools are to collect information from parents on family background following agreement between all state and territory Ministers for Education and the Federal Minister. The information will be used to identify factors which influence how well children perform at school.

The MCEECDYA Data Standards Manual 2010 provides guidance for schools on the collection of student background characteristics.
